118 Years of History
Founded in 1900 in Cairo, Bajocchi is the oldest jewellery business of Egypt. Today, the name Bajocchi is synonymous of tradition, quality and integrity. In the course of years Bajocchi had the honor to serve members of the Khedivial and Royal Family of Egypt, as well as several of its First Ladies and former Kings and Queens during their permanence in Egypt.
For more than thirty years, Bajocchi had the honor to provide its services to the first ladies of Egypt.
Zog I King of Albania
During his exile, King Zog I of Albania and most of his family came to live in Egypt at the behest of King Farouk. Throughout their stay in the country (1946-1952), Bajocchi served the Albanian royal family.
Umberto II King of Italy
When Italy became a republic in 1946, King Vittorio Emanuelle III abdicated in favour of his son, Umberto II. At the behest of King Farouk, King Vittorio Emanuelle III came to exile in Egypt where he died the following year. He was buried in Alexandria in St. Catherine cathedral. His son, King Umberto II, continued to visit Egypt every year to pay tribute to his father on the anniversary of his death. During his stays in Egypt, the Maison Bajocchi had the privileged to provide him with its services.
Idris King of Lybia
Following the revolution led by Col. Muammar Geddafi in 1969, King Idris of Lybia and his family sought refuge in Egypt. The Maison had the privilege to cater to the needs of Queen Fatma El Senussi, Queen Consort of the King of Lybia.
Farah Pahlavi Shahbanu of Iran
After the revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Shah of Iran and his family settled in Egypt in March 1980 on the invitation of President Anwar El Sadate. Mohmamed Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, died in Egypt on July 27, 1980 and was buried in Al-Rifai Mosque, in Cairo. The Maison had the privilege of providing its services to his wife, the Shahbanu (Empress) Farah Pahlavi during her stay in Egypt.
